CLINSOL® (clindamycin hydrochloride) Liquid
Oral clindamycin hydrochloride liquid used for antibiotic therapy to treat dental and skin infections in dogs and cats.
Clindamycin hydrochloride is indicated for use in dogs to treat osteomyelitis and indicated for use in both dogs and cats to treat dental and skin infections caused by numerous susceptible strains of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria involved in specific conditions as listed on FDA-approved label. Refer to product insert to see a complete list of specific pathogen and treatment indications.
- Effective oral antibiotic treatment for dental infections in dogs and cats caused by many common bacterial species:
- In dogs, indicated to treat dental infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Bacteroides fragilis, Prevotella melaninogenicus, Fusobacterium necrophorum, and Clostridium perfringens.
- In cats, indicated to treat dental infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, S. intermedius, Streptococcus spp, C. perfringens, and B. fragilis.
- Also treats wounds and abscesses caused by a variety of bacterial skin infections. See product insert.
- Liquid formulation for dogs and cats. Available in 20 mL bottles with measured dropper.
- In dogs, administer every 12 hours for up to 28 days as needed. For acute infections, discontinue use after 3 to 4 days if no response is seen.
- In cats, administer every 24 hours for up to 14 days depending on need. For acute infections, discontinue use after 3 to 4 days if no response is seen.
In clinical trials, vomiting and diarrhea were occasionally observed. Do not use in animals with a history of hypersensitivity to clindamycin or lincomycin. Use with caution in patients with very severe renal disease and/or very severe hepatic disease.
