Virbac Announces Voluntary Recall Notice for Selected Production Lots of IVERHART PLUS® Flavored Chewable Tablets

On Thursday, August 13, 2009 Virbac AH, Inc., the manufacturer of IVERHART PLUS® Flavored Chewable Tablets, a heartworm preventive medicine, announced a voluntarily recall of three product lots.

Virbac Animal Health (Virbac) has added a second chapter of the Heartworm Prevention module to Virbac University focusing on understanding the life cycle and disease resulting from common intestinal parasites.

IVERHART Products are well tolerated. All dogs should be tested for heartworm infection before starting a preventive program. In clinical field trials, the most common adverse reactions, vomiting and diarrhea, were rarely observed (1.1% of doses administered). For more information, ask your veterinarian.
