VIRBANTEL® DEWORMER NOW AVAILABLE IN 50-COUNT BOTTLES
New size of Virbac dewormer even more economical.
FORT WORTH, Texas (September 1, 2008) – Virbac Animal Health (Virbac) announces a 50-count bottle of Virbantel® dewormer is now available to veterinarians. Virbantel (pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel) Flavored Chewables treat and control the three most common internal parasites in dogs: roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms*.
“The 50-count packaging makes Virbantel more economical per bottle and reduces the veterinarian’s investment in inventory,” said Denise Skurdalsvold, Virbac Senior Marketing Manager. “Virbantel provides veterinarians with an economical pork flavored chewable anthelmintic designed to treat and control the seven most commonly seen types of intestinal parasites.” These include: two types of Roundworms (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina); three types of Hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense and Uncinaria stenocephala); and two types of Tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum and Taenia pisiformis).
The importance of treating and controlling these potentially zoonotic intestinal parasites is addressed by the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) guidelines, which call for year-round preventative treatment for internal and external parasites. Virbantel was developed as a cost-effective broad spectrum treatment designed to support pet owner compliance.
Pork liver flavored chewables provide safe and convenient dosing. The new 50-count packaging, which replaces the 100-count bottle, makes Virbantel an even more affordable choice for year-round protection protocols. This dewormer for puppies and dogs 12 weeks of age or older is available in two tablet sizes for small dogs and puppies of 6.0 to 25 pounds and for medium and large dogs of 25.1 to 200 pounds. Dosage is determined by the dog’s body weight.
