VIRBAC Announces New Advanced Formula for ALLERGROOM® Shampoo
FORT WORTH, Texas (July 21, 2009) VIRBAC Animal Health today announced that ALLERGROOM® Shampoo is the most recent product in the VIRBAC dermatology line to be reformulated to include glycotechnology, a patent-pending advancement that reduces adherence of bacteria and yeast to the skin surface.
In discussing glycotechnology, Lesley Carrier, DVM, and Field Technical Services Veterinarian for VIRBAC explained, “A unique combination of monosaccharides and an alkylpolyglucoside reduces bacterial and yeast adhesion to the stratum corneum. This action physically disrupts microorganism colonization on the skin surface and may delay the onset of irritation due to topical bacteria or yeast. Glycotechnology also helps prevent or treat keratoseborrheic disorders associated with sicca (dry or scaly skin).”
ALLERGROOM Shampoo is moisturizing and hypoallergenic. It is designed for frequent use to treat dry skin in cats, dogs and horses. It is gentle, emollient, soap-free and antiseborrheic. In addition to glycotechnology, ALLERGROOM Shampoo contains SPHERULITES® Microspheres, an exclusive encapsulation system that provides slow release of ingredients long after product application, and chitosanide, a natural biopolymer that creates a protective film on the skin and hair coat. In keeping with the belief that a pet’s good health should be evident in its skin and coat, VIRBAC continually works to provide superior products addressing the needs of companion animals that can both prevent and treat skin conditions.
“These exclusive VIRBAC technologies really give pets an extra coat of protection,” Dena Ware, Marketing Manager, said. “And not only is ALLERGROOM Shampoo easy for pet owners to use, it is also economical. Pet owners may save money by reducing or eliminating trips to the groomer.”
Pet owners can purchase ALLERGROOM Shampoo through their veterinarian in 8 ounce, 16 ounce and 1-gallon sizes.
